Dane introduced Bill C-236, the "Addressing the Continuing Victimization of Homicide Victims' Families Act," named after Lyle and Marie McCann — an elderly Alberta couple murdered in 2010 whose remains were never found. The bill makes refusal to disclose the location of victims' remains an aggravating sentencing factor and delays parole eligibility for offenders who refuse to cooperate.
Dane first campaigned on "no body, no parole" during his 2017 by-election and has introduced a version of this bill in every Parliament he has served — four times across eight years.
